When I first ordered this I was wondering how on earth it would stand up without falling down. Surprisingly the stand is very heavy for how small it is. You can arrange this little guy in every any any direction you want. If you plan on doing any hobby work like soldering or model building this investment will pay for itself as soon as you use it once.

Very good light...
I generally review 3 kinds of stuff: (1) knocks my socks off (2) annoys me or (3)has some feature that hasn't been mentioned but I think should be. This lamp doesn't fit into any of these categories but it's a good lamp. One feature that I like is the 2-light-level switch. I often use the lower level to augment available daylight and the upper level when I'm reading with an overhead light on. I'm not fond of using it as the sole light source. This is partly due to the fact that the light from the lamp looks unusually cold (think of the "white" glary headlights of a modern car). And partly it is due to the smallish "pool" of light given off by the lamp. If you're reading a book or knitting a small pool of light works well. For a newspaper however not very. Would other lamps work better? Probably not.
Bottom line: Am I happy with it? Yes. I like the little platform thing which I use for a pad and pen. I like the adjustability of the light (the goose-neck feature which because it's a floor lamp I won't change very often). The whole thing seems sturdy and well-made. I like having two light levels. The diffuser that attaches under the bulb to prevent the light from shining directly in your eyes is also a nice touch.
It just didn't knock my socks off.

Great little work lampVery good lamp for your money. Comes wih a fluorescent bulb that saves electricity. You can tilt the shade how you want it using the band right next to the shade (the band doesn't heat up at all so tilting it isn't painful unlike some cheapo lamps) and adjust the height of the stand. When all the way up it's 51". I use it as a floor lamp next to the computer often the only light in a dark room at night. It would also be an excellent reading lamp. Also I like the weight (medium) and look (dull gold color with a nice antique finish and has the style of an old-fashioned office lamp). It's a quality piece for a budget cost. We've been using it for 2 weeks without a problem and assembly was easy as pie. The only catch is that it's more of an office or study look than a living room look but it would even work in a modern living room.

Worked for 2 days then did not work. Found out that replacement bulb is discontinued and hard to find. Not happy!! Returned lamp.

Just get it and you won't be dissapointed for the price...I received these today (ordered 3) and am quite pleased with the look. For the price you will not find anything quite this nice. Perfect to add a little elegance to any room in you home. All 3 work wonderfully and took just a couple minutes to set up.

Magnifier Lamp works great for any room in the house!I bought this lamp for my great aunt and she cannot stop talking about it! She loves it for reading crossword puzzles and her favorite hobby: needlepoint. It has a plug-in adaptor but it also runs on batteries so she can take it from the den to the bedroom to read at night. It's super bright and she can adjust it to whatever height she needs it.

Pleased with floor lampI'm pleased with the lamp. Assembly was straightforward and the cost was reasonable. While the lamp is advertised as 5' it is more like 48 to 52 inches when the lamphead is bent for reading. For someone 5'8" it is quite acceptable.

Fluorescent tourchiere lamp replaces older quartz lampProduct works well arrived on time and is bright enough for reading and lighting the room. My wife wanted me to replace an older quartz tourchiere that was very hot. She was concerned about overheating and the possibility of fire. The flourescent lamp runs very cool and puts out nearly an equivalent amount of light. Not to mention uses less electricity.
